CO2 gas exposure triggers skin flushing and vasodilation similar to CO2 water baths

CO2 gas baths (fumarole/dry CO2) produce the same skin flushing and vasodilation as CO2 water baths, but require higher temperatures to achieve the same effect, and CO2 absorption is promoted by wetting with water vapor.

What this means for you

Vasodilation — the widening of blood vessels near the skin — means more blood flow to your extremities and surface tissues. Most people experience this as a visible flush and a warming sensation. Better peripheral circulation supports muscle recovery, skin nourishment, and the kind of relaxed, heavy-limbed feeling that follows a good sauna.
